Psychology Teaching Assistant - Hounslow

Contract type: Permanent (contracted positions may also be available for the right candidate)
Start date: September 2025 (earlier starts may be available)
Hours: 8.30am - 4pm approximately
Salary: £19,500 - £26,000

Are you a Psychology graduate looking to enter the world of teaching or educational psychology?

Psychology Teaching Assistant - responsibilities:

As a Psychology Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with primary and/or secondary pupils who have learning difficulties including autism, dyslexia, and SEMH difficulties.

Your role will involve:

  1. Providing 1:1 and small group support to students in the classroom - mainly English and Maths support.
  2. Assisting with the implementation of EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans).
  3. Supporting pupils with emotional difficulties.
  4. Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  5. Collaborating with external practitioners to support pupils in their therapy sessions.
  6. Encouraging independence and confidence in students.

Psychology Teaching Assistant - the school:
  1. All through school in Hounslow
  2. Primary and secondary roles available - flexibility is essential

Psychology Teaching Assistant - requirements:
  1. A 2:1 or above from a top UK university - Psychology graduates are desirable

  5. A good understanding of SEN strategies and interventions - potential is key
  6. Basic knowledge of Makaton, PECs or BSL
  7. Aspiring teacher or Educational Psychologist
