Job Description:

Are you a Psychology Graduate interested in working with children in primary schools with behavioural and mental health needs? This full-time role starting in September 2024 offers an opportunity to work with children with additional needs throughout the academic year.

Academics LTD collaborates with numerous primary schools in Waltham Forest seeking proactive graduates with a good understanding of mental health to serve as Teaching Assistants.

  • Position: Primary School and Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Waltham Forest, London
  • Start Date: September 2024
  • Contract: Full-time until July 2025, term-time only
  • Pay: £83-£110 per day (£415-£550 per week)
  • Benefits: Training, supportive schools, pathways to teaching and psychology careers, good transport links, parking available

The role involves working with pupils aged 5-11, including those with SEMH, SEN, and ASD, on a 1:1 basis and in classroom settings. Training will be provided for managing challenging behaviour, and collaboration with SENCOs, senior management, and external agencies is expected.

This position is ideal for Psychology graduates aiming for careers in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Primary Teaching, Art Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Mentoring, Counselling, CBT, or SEN Coordination.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Psychology degree within the UK
  • Experience tutoring, working in schools, or with child mental health (CAMHS)
  • Passion for supporting children with SEN
