Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting a full-time Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a specialist SEND and SEMH setting in Newcastle upon Tyne. This role offers practical experience in child development, behaviour and emotional wellbeing while working with experienced teachers and pastoral staff.

You will hold a Psychology degree and work calmly and empathetically with pupils, supporting learning activities and targeted interventions.

Qualifications

• Psychology degree required; interest in SEND/SEMH.
• Experience with children or safeguarding beneficial.
• Calm, empathetic and reflective approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to pupils and small groups.
• Promote confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing.
• Help pupils access learning activities.
• Support with behaviour strategies and routines.
• Assist with targeted interventions.
• Build professional relationships with staff.
• Monitor and report pupil progress.
• Collaborate with teachers and pastoral teams.
