Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is seeking a Psychology graduate to join a mainstream secondary school in Romford as a SEN Support Assistant for the 2026/27 academic year. You will work 1:1 and in small groups with students who have SEN, supporting learning and emotional regulation under the guidance of a SENCO and teaching staff.

Ideal candidates will hold a Psychology degree, show genuine interest in SEN, mental health and child development, and be patient, empathetic, and proactive.

Qualifications

• Psychology degree required or closely related subject.
• Interest in SEN, mental health, or child development.
• Willingness to commit for the full academic year.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN.
• Assist teachers in delivering inclusive and differentiated lessons.
• Support students with emotional regulation, engagement and behaviour.
• Implement targeted interventions to support learning and wellbeing.
• Gain exposure to EHCPs, safeguarding practices and multi‑agency working.
