Psychology or Criminology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Are you a psychology or criminology graduate interested in working with children who have behavioural and mental health needs? We are currently recruiting for a number of schools seeking confident and proactive graduates with a good understanding of child mental health to work as teaching assistants.

As a specialist teaching assistant, you will work with pupils on a 1-to-1 basis during the school day. The pupils, aged 5 to 11 years old, will have identified behaviour, SEMH, and SEN needs, including ASD, requiring full-time support. Your duties will include working in classrooms, in specialist mentoring sessions, and during some break times. Some pupils may display challenging behaviour, and the school can provide training in suitable interventions and approaches. You will collaborate closely with the school's SENCO, senior management team, and outside agencies such as therapists, healthcare professionals, and CAMHS.

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be a graduate in Psychology or Criminology
  • Have experience with CAMHS or child mental health services
  • Be passionate about supporting children with SEND and SEMH needs
