Job Title: Psychologist (ADOS2-2 / ADI-R) - Newcastle
Location: Newcastle (hybrid available 1-2 days minimum)
Role: Permanent
Salary: £55,000 - £110,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Hours: Full Time (part-time available)

Renowned for their expertise, they offer neurodevelopmental and psychological assessments for adults and children, alongside expert witness services for courts, parole boards, and cases spanning criminal/prison law, family law, immigration law, and medico-legal settings. Their proven success in delivering high-quality assessments and fulfilling HSE / NHS contracts sets them apart as a trusted provider.

The Role

Join a thriving service in this rewarding role, where youll provide critical assessments for families and adults as part of the Neurodevelopmental Assessment Team. Focusing on children referred via HSE / NHS Patient Choice and GP pathways for autism and/or ADHD assessments, this position offers flexibility with hybrid working options.

For hybrid roles, travel to the Newcastle office is required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing specialist diagnostic assessments for autism and/or ADHD using established tools, with occasional mental health assessments as needed.
  • Preparing detailed, professional assessment reports with actionable recommendations and interventions in a timely manner.
  • Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional outcomes.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff (based on experience).

Assessments are primarily conducted on behalf of HSE/NHS via GP referrals, with some tasks manageable remotely, offering flexibility and work-life balance.

Qualifications & Skills

  • HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Relevant degree in Psychology.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting diagnostic neurodevelopmental or specialist developmental assessments with children and young people.
  • Clinical experience supporting children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders or mental health difficulties.
  • In-depth knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and appropriate assessment tools for autism and ADHD.
  • Proficiency in differential diagnosis.
  • Ideally trained in ADOS-2 and/or ADI-R
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with strong report-writing and record-keeping abilities.
  • A collaborative team player comfortable in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Additional qualifications in autism, ADHD, or related fields are highly desirable.
