Job description

Want to join an innovative team focused on staff wellbeing, achieving good recovery rates, and developing your professional knowledge and skills?

Do you want to work in beautiful Dorset with stunning coastal areas, award-winning beaches, and national parks?

If so, consider joining the Dorset Steps 2 Wellbeing Service as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP). This is an exciting opportunity to join a Low-Intensity Team across Dorset.

Dorset Steps 2 Wellbeing is a dynamic, progressive service with a friendly and supportive team. You will work within NHS Talking Therapies, providing psychological interventions to individuals with mild to moderate common mental health issues such as anxiety disorders and depression.

As a psychological wellbeing practitioner, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Conducting patient interviews
  2. Carrying out risk assessments
  3. Providing support via phone, online, or face-to-face
  4. Liaising with other agencies and signposting patients to services like housing and employment

Requirements: You must hold either a Postgraduate Certificate in Low Intensity CBT with IAPT PWP status or an MSci Applied Psychology (Clinical) qualification. This role is fixed-term, and for NHS employees, it will be offered on a secondment basis with prior permission required.

The post involves delivering high-volume, low-intensity interventions, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-management strategies for clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.

Additional duties include:

  • Accepting referrals within service protocols
  • Supporting individuals in managing their recovery
  • Providing information and support for evidence-based treatments, including guided self-help, computerized CBT, and pharmacological information, via face-to-face, telephone, or other media

Note: Employment requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will fund. Applicants subscribed to the DBS update service can present a valid certificate instead of a new check.
