Job summary

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified and registered psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapist or someone in training recognized by UKCP or BPC to join an experienced team of Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Psychotherapists.

Main duties of the job

We offer a range of psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, and group analytic psychotherapies, supervision, training, teaching, and consultancy across the Trust. The team supports the development of psychotherapeutic skills, research, and practice, contributing to psychological therapies within the Trust. The service is managed within the Adult Mental Health Directorate.

The Trust supports professional development with supervision and has strong links to local D. Clin. Psy. Programmes, providing teaching and supervision opportunities.

Applicants must be able to travel independently across the area and have access to a suitable vehicle for work purposes, with adjustments available under the Equality Act 2010 if needed.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Recognized postgraduate qualification and registration in a core mental health profession (e.g., psychiatry, clinical psychology, counselling psychology, social work, occupational therapy) with demonstrated competence in NHS mental health work.
  • Post-graduate doctoral training in psychodynamic or psychoanalytic psychotherapy accredited by BPC.
  • Current or pending membership of BPC, HCPC, or equivalent.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Desirable

  • Training in additional psychotherapeutic areas, such as brief therapies or personality disorder approaches.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel independently as per Trust policies.

Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • Skills in complex psychoanalytic/psychodynamic assessment and management, including short-term and long-term therapies.
  • Ability to communicate complex, sensitive information effectively.
  • Experience in teaching, training, and supervision within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Extensive experience as a psychoanalytic/psychodynamic psychotherapist or applied psychologist in an NHS or relevant setting.
