Position: PSHE Teacher

Location: Norton College, Worcester, WR5 2BA

Salary: GBP39,519.90 per annum

Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a PSHE Teacher to join our close-knit team at Norton College in Worcester.

About the role

The main purpose of the role is to tutor students in PHSE. The PHSE Teacher will deliver the new PHSE Curriculum education across the college. The role holder will work closely with the college Careers Lead to support students to access careers interview and work placement opportunities.

The post holder will also be required to work closely with the head of School to ensure the smooth running of the college and undertake such duties as delegated by the Head of School.

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people with a range of complex learning needs. You will be able to demonstrate a working understanding of how these needs impact upon learning and behaviour in the classroom. You may have specialist knowledge and experience of working with autistic spectrum condition or pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Or you may have experience of working across both specialisms.

The ability to contribute to the development of our college is essential and we believe that energy, passion and a commitment to high standards are key characteristics required. We are looking for an individual who is able to help inspire and engage the young people that we serve. This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their skills and experience in a challenging, motivating and highly rewarding environment. Previous experience of working in a SEN environment would be desirable, excellent support skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are also just as important.

Main Duties:

  • Tutor of PSHE
  • Encouraging students to re-engage with their learning.
  • Work in line with the college marking policy.
  • Supporting students with their social and emotional well-being.
  • Completing college safeguarding training and using appropriate channels for reporting concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with all teaching staff in order to ensure cohesion.
