Job summary

Academics is seeking a dedicated teaching assistant to support a classroom teacher at a Southwark PRU working with secondary pupils who show very challenging behaviour. The role is full-time and requires resilience and strong classroom presence.

Experience in PRUs or similar settings is essential, with calm under pressure and effective behaviour management. The successful candidate should be available ASAP through to at least July 2027 and committed to building positive relationships with pupils.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a PRU or similar environment.
• Excellent behaviour management techniques and resilience under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist in a variety of subject lessons alongside a classroom teacher.
• Support pupils with extremely challenging behaviour and ensure a safe learning environment.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to aid engagement.
