Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications, and more.

Opticore IT is currently searching for a Proxy Specialist to support our Financial Services client. You will lead and support the transition from Bluecoat proxy infrastructure to a new FortiProxy (Web Secure Gateway), ensuring a seamless, secure, and effective migration. The design, BOM, and migration approach are already in place.

You will join our excellent team, based in the London area, on an initial 6-month contract, inside IR35, with scope to extend. Requiring 1-2 days a week in our client's HQ in Central London.

What you'll be doing:

1. Lead the migration from Bluecoat proxy solutions to FortiProxy (Web Secure Gateway).
2. Design, implement, and test the new proxy solution, ensuring business continuity and minimal disruption.
3. Work closely with stakeholders to define migration strategy, timelines, and requirements.
4. Develop detailed migration plans, risk assessments, and contingency measures.
5. Provide hands-on technical expertise in configuration, troubleshooting, and optimisation of proxy infrastructure.
6. Collaborate with internal IT, security, and network teams to ensure integration with existing systems (firewalls, VPNs, etc.).
7. Conduct testing, validation, and tuning of the new proxy solution to meet performance, security, and compliance standards.
8. Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for the migration process and new proxy solution.
9. Provide support for post-migration issues, ensuring timely resolution.
10. Train and hand over operations to the internal network/security team once the migration is complete.

What you'll bring:

• Expertise in FortiProxy, Web Secure Gateway, with a hands-on, consultative approach.
• Proven experience in proxy migration projects, specifically from Bluecoat to FortiProxy.
• Solid understanding of Bluecoat proxy solutions.
• Strong background in network security, including web filtering, SSL inspection, and data loss prevention (DLP).
• Expertise in proxy server architecture, deployment best practices, and performance optimisation.
• Experience with policy creation and migration (URL filtering, access control, etc.).
• Knowledge of SSL decryption and inspection on proxy appliances.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP/S protocols, and web traffic.
