Job description

The Prototype Technician (Workshop) is responsible for ensuring that vehicle build activities are refined and matured from an engineering and manufacturing perspective through testing, data acquisition, and simulation. This ensures a smooth transition into successful project delivery and production. Responsibilities include assembly and testing of prototype vehicles and components, identifying and reporting mechanical faults, and collaborating with engineers to resolve issues daily.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with the prototype workshop team and liaise with other departments such as Design, Engineering, and Vehicle Development.
  2. Fabricate, machine, weld components, and assemble composite parts as applicable.
  3. Check, modify, and inspect in-house and third-party parts.
  4. Perform vehicle teardown, label, and record parts.
  5. Build vehicle and subsystem assemblies.
  6. Report issues, faults, or concerns using structured procedures.
  7. Test components, vehicle systems, and complete vehicles.
  8. Support company events and activities.
  9. Develop the role and support the company's growth as a team player.
  10. Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and expertise.
  11. Liaise with Design and Engineering to support testing and development.
  12. Assist with external component tests and vehicle safety tests.
  13. Participate in internal meetings and support company events and publications.
  14. Perform other duties as requested by management.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  • Background in Automotive Engineering, Motorsport, or Aerospace.
  • Experience with high-spec supercars.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and follow engineer instructions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
  • High standards of work with minimal supervision and strong attention to detail.
  • Organized, persuasive, resourceful, flexible, ambitious, self-directed, and passionate about objectives.
  • Effective communication skills with internal and external clients.
  • Must be a team player.
