A little more about your role:

As a Protection & Control Engineer, you will design a range of Technical Protection & Control solutions for EHV substation projects, including both AIS & GIS substations at voltages from 11kV to 400kV.

You could be based in Newcastle, Stockton-on-Tees, Leeds, or Manchester, but you will need flexibility to travel to UK client offices and sites as required.

You will:
  • Produce protection and control system design drawings for 11kV up to 132kV systems.
  • Develop new protection solutions for a future smart grid.
  • Integrate protection and SCADA systems to deliver cost-effective design solutions.
  • Create engineering design calculations and documentation.
  • Support the creation of equipment specifications.
  • Visit sites to assess project requirements.
  • Attend site meetings and support design changes during project build.
  • Review designs by suppliers and clients for compliance and standards.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate:
  • HNC Electrical Engineering qualification.
  • Experience in designing protection and control schemes.
  • Knowledge of electrical networks and standards.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation.
  • Experience with main suppliers' substation control equipment (e.g., ABB, Hitachi, Siemens, GE).
  • Knowledge of protocols like IEC 61850, IEC 60870.
  • Full driving license.
