Protection & Control Engineer (£50-60 / hour)
6 month contract
OUTSIDE IR35

Sustainable Talent have engaged exclusively with a leading provider of construction and engineering services within the power transmission and distribution sector. They have successfully delivered major projects for National Grid and other clients, such as substation upgrades, transformer replacements, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The Role
  1. Perform analysis and design of Protection Systems for HV substation and FACTS.
  2. Develop substation relaying & metering diagrams (i.e., Single line/A.C./D.C. schematic diagrams).
  3. Develop the substation communication and network diagram.
  4. A good understanding of National Grid standards.
  5. Prepare specification & Bill of Material for Protection/Control/Metering/RTU/ Communication Panels.
  6. Develop Protection and Control Panel layouts.
  7. Develop Protection and Control Panel wiring diagrams.
  8. Develop Cable Schedule for Substation.
  9. Perform Factory Acceptance Test for Protection and Control Panels.
  10. Perform reviews of work performed by others.
  11. Work closely with other engineering and design team members to coordinate overall design package and requirements.
  12. Perform relay coordination study and develop the relay settings file.
  13. Coordinate with supplier and contractors.
