Prosecutions Administration Assistant needed in Nettleham, Lincoln, £12.31phPAYE - Reference: 365478
To provide a high-quality administrative service to internal and external partners, including officers, the Crown Prosecution Services (CPS) and the His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS). Act as a point of contact and support for officers with case file preparation and progression.
The post holder will be required to carry out the administration, preparation, and processing of prosecution files in accordance with criminal justice policy; to ensure the progression of cases through the court process by means of timely and accurate case preparation.
- Collate case files from Police Officers ensure that these are available to the Crown Prosecution Service in readiness for the court hearing, ensuring that they meet the National File Standards and are provided in line with the appropriate timeframes. Take responsibility for the processing of initial charge, Crime Postal Requisitions and Remand files, ensuring relevant information is sent to the CPS and HMCTS for the Prosecution of Offenders and ensuring that the case is dealt with appropriately at court.
- Responsible for the inputting, updating, maintenance and quality control of information onto Police, National and other force computer systems in accordance with policies and directives current at the relevant time.
- Carry out accurate and prompt maintenance of computerised records to ensure the integrity of data held, in line with company policies and procedures so that all information is readily available and accessible.
- Administer process and progress Magistrates and Crown Court files; carry out data input; update, maintain and quality assure case file information held on appropriate computer systems and where appropriate in paper format for transmission to HMCTS and the CPS in accordance with national and locally agreed standards for quality and timeliness.
- Create electronic case files in relation to criminal investigations and associated offences arising from work generated by Lincolnshire Police and partners, including outside agencies and other police forces where appropriate. Input and update court hearing results as appropriate.
- Tasking officers for further work to be carried out at the request of CPS in readiness for the upcoming court hearing.
- Act as the point of contact and liaison for case file progression, by tasking officers for further work to be carried out at the request of CPS in readiness for the upcoming court hearing and keeping CPS informed progress as required.
- Analyse directions assess for further requirements and process ensuring timeliness is complied with. Respond to enquiries, correspondence and requests for further work and information by partner agencies, HMCTS, the CPS, members of the public, solicitors and provide the appropriate advice, guidance and support as necessary in accordance with established protocols.
- Ensure that all associated correspondence is quality assured, recorded and/or updated on appropriate systems/databases within specified time frames. Provide feedback, advice and guidance to officers and supervisors on the quality of case files and other case file material as appropriate.
- Work in partnership with but not limited to Lincolnshire Police, Partner Agencies including HMCTS and the CPS and other Police Forces to maintain and strengthen the commitment to improve customer service and deal with these matters efficiently and promptly.
This is a full time role on a temporary basis.
