We are looking for a

Service Engineer, Propulsion

with a main responsibility in executing Field Service activities such as overhaul, repair and basic trouble shooting on Wärtsilä Propulsion systems.

The reporting location for this position is in Glasgow, UK but extensive travel is required for the role.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Service Engineer your work will include interacting with customers and preparing with service reports. You’ll be working independently to solve our customers problems.

What will you be doing as Service Engineer, Propulsion? Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Independently execute Field Service activities such as overhaul, repair and basic trouble shooting on Wärtsilä Propulsion systems.

  • Perform field service activities according to the work schedule on marine vessels & stationary powerplants.

  • Perform engineering/technical support activities according to the work schedule marine vessels & stationary powerplants.

  • Mechanical maintenance and overhauling skill require for FPP, CPP, Gearbox, Transverse thruster, Azimuth thruster and WaterJet etc

  • Carry out Propulsion product trouble shoot, maintenance and investigation

  • Execute Propulsion product warranty, commissioning work and supervision of new building project

  • Perform system upgrade for Propulsion control system

  • Executing warranty, commissioning work & supervision of Field Service.

  • Prepare Service reports and travel expenses on time and with expected Wärtsilä quality

  • System upgrade for Wärtsilä Propulsion System

  • Technical communications with Wärtsilä field service stakeholders and customers during the work execution

  • Ensure that the work is executed according to Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and customer site procedures.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Ability to work on engine/propulsion with field service & marine engineer background

  • Ability to understand, use and correct electrical and automation schematics and drawings, and related component level documentation.

  • Possess suitable real-world knowledge and experience related to control system specification and design, marine power distribution, motor control, process sensors and instrumentation, valves, pumps, fans and other process system componentry.

  • Knowledge of machinery/field service work experience

  • More than 3 years' experience of similar task

  • Good command of written and verbal English, Diploma/BSc in Mechanical, Marine, Electric & Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering. Preference will be given to candidates who have propulsion FS experience.
