Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for a Proposals Lead. Based in Aberdeen, the role is on a permanent, full-time basis and offers hybrid working.

ROLE

The main purpose of the Proposal Lead role is to lead a team capable of supporting the company's growth in the Angola region through the preparation of robust proposals for targeted projects, following the 7-step Business Acquisition Process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Maintain high-accuracy Market Data, including reporting as-bid data and tracking project awards to the company or competitors.
  2. Coordinate project selection ensuring capacity, resources, and equipment are available for successful bid execution, in collaboration with the Commercial Manager.
  3. Ensure tenders are properly selected, prepared, and reviewed for consistency with Angola Senior Management and Commercial Manager.
  4. Bid only on projects with a reasonable chance of success, considering customer, competition, and risks.
  5. Develop capture strategies for all new prospective work and encourage technical and commercial innovation.
  6. Support the development of the project execution plan with the Commercial Manager and Operations Director.
  7. Prepare and submit error-free proposals on schedule, aligning with client specifications and the Basis of Bid process.
  8. Aim to win additional work at agreed margins, with risks identified and managed.
  9. Assist the Commercial Manager and Senior Management with contract negotiations, providing detailed backup, analysis, and relevant documentation.
REQUIREMENTS:
Technical Performance:
  • Knowledge of Africa's business capabilities.
  • Technical knowledge for competent pricing.
Interpersonal Skills:
  • Ability to develop customer relationships.
  • Good presentation and communication skills.
  • Competency to represent the company effectively in written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage relationships at all organizational levels.
Support to the Organization:
  • Report to the Commercial Manager.
  • Develop bid/no-bid recommendations and capture strategies.
  • Lead bid reviews and support post-bid negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures and guidelines.
  • Participate in reporting and pre-qualification processes.
  • Represent the company professionally at all times.
Support to other Departments:
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Manager and Operations Director on bidding strategies.
  • Coordinate bid input and contribute to risk and opportunity management.
  • Liaise with regional managers and proposals teams.
Leading the Organisation:
