Job description

Proposal Engineer, Power Quality (Medium Voltage)

Location: UK, Hybrid (Ideally within reach of Telford)

Salary: £50,000 to £60,000, with flexibility for the right person

Influence major power infrastructure projects before they're even built.

If you're an electrical engineer who enjoys solving technically complex problems but wants greater influence over projects, this is an opportunity to move beyond traditional design work and help shape multi-million-pound electrical infrastructure programmes from the very beginning.

You’ll join a growing Power Quality business within a global engineering organisation that is investing heavily in grid modernisation, power electronics and electrical infrastructure. Rather than simply supporting projects, you’ll develop the technical solutions that determine how they’re delivered.

This role offers an excellent balance of engineering and commercial responsibility, allowing you to stay technically hands on while building broader experience across customer engagement, proposal development and major project delivery.

About the company

Our client is a globally recognised engineering and technology business delivering advanced electrical infrastructure and power conversion solutions to the energy, utilities and industrial sectors.

With continued investment in research, development and grid technologies, the business is helping customers improve network stability, reliability and efficiency across the UK and Europe. Continued growth within the Power Quality division has created the need for an additional Proposal Engineer to support an expanding pipeline of technically demanding projects.

The role

Working alongside sales teams, design engineers and international technical specialists, you’ll manage customer enquiries from initial specification through to completed technical and commercial proposals.

You’ll review customer requirements, evaluate electrical system designs and develop the most appropriate technical solution for each application. This includes selecting and sizing equipment, obtaining supplier quotations, preparing costings and producing high-quality proposals for projects ranging from several million pounds through to major infrastructure programmes.

You’ll work with technologies including:

  • Medium Voltage power electronics
  • STATCOM and Power Quality solutions
  • Transformers
  • Medium Voltage switchgear
  • Grid connection infrastructure

During your onboarding you’ll work closely with specialist engineering teams across Europe, receiving structured training and developing expertise in one of the fastest-growing areas of modern power systems.

About you

You’ll have a background in electrical engineering and experience working with medium or high voltage power systems, industrial power electronics or electrical distribution equipment.

You might currently be working as a:

  • Applications Engineer
  • Electrical Design Engineer

You’ll be comfortable interpreting single line diagrams, specifying electrical equipment and developing practical engineering solutions for customers.

Experience with medium voltage drives, power conversion equipment or electrical network design would be particularly valuable. Direct STATCOM experience isn’t essential. What’s more important is a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and a genuine interest in developing expertise within power quality technologies.

An Electrical Engineering degree is preferred, although relevant industry experience will be considered equally.

What’s on offer

Alongside a competitive salary and hybrid working, you’ll receive structured technical training from an international centre of excellence and work alongside recognised specialists within the power quality sector.

As the team continues to grow, genuine opportunities exist to progress into senior technical, commercial or leadership positions while working on projects that are helping modernise electrical infrastructure across the UK and Europe.

Interested?

If you’re looking for a role where your engineering knowledge will directly influence major infrastructure projects while opening long-term career opportunities within an innovative global business, we’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
