We’re on the hunt for a talented Property Underwriter to join our growing team based in our Colchester office. In this role, you will focus on delivering an outstanding service and helping our brokers sell to their end consumer with our compelling offering.

As the UK Commercial MGA for Ardonagh Advisory; a Gold rated Investor in Customer insurance business Geo specialise in Agriculture, Construction, Property, Liability, Marine and Protection lines.

What does the role of a Property Underwriter involve?

You will assess and evaluate risks, manage portfolios, and drive underwriting results. Your responsibilities include:

• Underwrite and administer risks, including new and existing business and midterm adjustments, and issue accurate, compliant documentation on behalf of Insurers.
• Demonstrate strong trading and negotiation skills to attain new business.
• Achieve individual targets and contribute to team and business targets.
• Collaborate with brokers and clients to gather necessary information for risk evaluation.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, insurers, and industry experts.
• Rate renewals, communicate effectively with regional brokers, and ensure retention and renewal success.
• Review cases, explore solutions for placements elsewhere or profitability improvements, and present options.
• Handle mid-term adjustments on existing policies.

What experience does a Property Underwriter need?

• Experience working in a broker environment.
• Competency in Landlords Property Owner’s products.
• Extensive underwriting knowledge and experience.
• Experience with Acturis software is desirable.
• Understanding of binder guidelines, authorities, and underwriting standards.
• Strong analytical skills.
