Your Role

The primary purpose of this role is to contribute to the achievement of department, branch, and corporate goals related to profit, growth, service, producer, and client relations.

Your Responsibilities

Achievement of the Personal Premium Budget

• Achieve financial targets related to rate and retention of the assigned portfolio.
• Exercise underwriting authority across all lines within scope.
• Evaluate and accept or decline new lines, renewals, and endorsements.
• Make recommendations for acceptance or declination on risks exceeding authority.
• Assist the manager with underwriting results, profit analysis, market environment, and competitor analysis, as well as ad hoc reports and projects.
• Manage underwriting results of the assigned portfolio.
• Monitor claim activity within the book and communicate with stakeholders as needed.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of the renewal process.

Producer Relations

• Develop and manage producer relationships, handle queries, and resolve issues.
• Keep stakeholders informed about market and producer challenges.

People Development

• Assist in underwriting training and producer relations as needed.

Service

• Provide exceptional underwriting service for the assigned portfolio and meet internal service demands.

Qualifications

• Experience in property and/or underwriting.
• Ability to find solutions for unique underwriting situations.
• Initiative and a proactive approach to innovation.
• Understanding of pricing techniques and underwriting margins.
• Familiarity with policy wordings and underwriting appetites across departments.
• Ability to recommend tailored coverage and manuscript policies.
• Knowledge of key competitors' products and services.
• Effective negotiation skills.
• Clear and concise communication skills.
• Ability to work well with others and influence decisions.
• Willingness to cross-train in other Property & Casualty lines.
