Post Title: Property Surveyor (Condition - Building Fabric)

Location: Inverness

Hours: 35 hours per week

Duration: Permanent

Salary: £42,879 - £46,410 p.a.

Salary placing will normally be at the first point of the scale.

Job Purpose:

To undertake a programme of condition and suitability surveys of the structure and fabric of the Council's property portfolio to provide a uniform and objective basis for obtaining detailed information on the current state of council's premises and allow for strategic forecasting of lifecycle maintenance work required.

To assess the condition and suitability of council buildings and facilities, ensuring they meet safety, health, and regulatory standards. This role involves conducting detailed surveys in accordance with Scottish Government requirements, reporting on the condition of structures, and recommending necessary repairs and maintenance to support the effective operation of council facilities.

To assist in the management of the Council's General Fund property estate and to contribute to developing and implementing strategic policies and procedures.

Requirements
  • Degree or diploma in relevant professional subject matter.
  • Membership with a recognized professional body such as CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) or equivalent is preferred (for the Building Services position).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in surveying building services, preferably within the public sector.
  • Access to personal transport and a commitment to regular travel across the Council's area.
