Job summary

Keoghs LLP is seeking an assistant within the Property Risks and Coverage team to support partners and senior fee earners on large and complex disputes, while managing a personal caseload.

The role covers claims in commercial and domestic settings, including liability, recovery and indemnity disputes; experience or interest in delictual and contractual disputes and litigated work is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience of handling pre and post-litigation damages claims.
• Experience of insurer funded property damage work.
• Experience of conducting court hearings up to and including Proofs.
• Experience of drafting court documents and understanding of processes.
• Good telephone and communication skills with people at all levels inside and outside the business.
• An ability to organise workload, prioritise tasks, use initiative and proactively progress client matters.
• Calm under pressure with the ability to re-prioritise and delegate effectively when required.
• A keen eye for detail and an ability to analyse evidence.

Responsibilities

• Run their own case load of pre and post-litigation property damage files and adhere to court timetables.
• Conduct of Court hearings.
• Instructing experts.
• Instructing and working with Counsel.
• Carrying out detailed reviews of quantum.
• Liaising with clients/other insurers/third parties.
• Liaising with policyholders and witnesses.
• Negotiating settlements.
• Drafting pleadings/court documents.
• Assisting other file handlers with their case loads.
• Any other tasks as they arise to efficiently run their caseload.
