Job summary

Keoghs in Glasgow is seeking a Solicitor to join the Property Risks and Coverage team. You will split time between assisting the partner and more senior figures on large disputes and managing a personal caseload.

The work covers liability, recovery and indemnity disputes arising in commercial and domestic settings; the role suits someone with experience or interest in delictual and contractual disputes and litigated work.

Qualifications

• Experience of handling pre and post-litigation damages claims.
• Experience of insurer funded property damage work.
• Experience of conducting court hearings up to and including proofs.
• Experience of drafting court documents and understanding processes.
• Good telephone and communication skills with people at all levels inside and outside the business.
• An ability to organise workload, prioritise tasks, use initiative and proactively progress client matters.
• Calm under pressure with the ability to re-prioritise and delegate effectively when required.
• A keen eye for detail and an ability to analyse evidence.

Description

The role is for an assistant within the Property Risks and Coverage team. Day to day this will mean splitting time between assisting the partner and more senior figures within the team on large and complex disputes and managing a personal case load. The work will involve a variety of claims arising in a range of commercial and domestic settings and will include liability, recovery and indemnity disputes. The role would suit a person who has experience / interest in delictual and contractual disputes and litigated work.

Key Responsibilities

The work handled by the successful applicant will include the following.

• Running their own case load of pre and post-litigation property damage files Adhering to court deadlines and managing files in accordance with court timetables
• Conduct of Court hearings
• Instructing experts
• Instructing and working with Counsel
• Carrying out detailed reviews of quantum
• Liaising with clients/other insurers/third parties
• Liaising with policyholders and witnesses

Working Hours

35 hours per week

Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch.

Primary location for this role is home working. The office location is Glasgow.
