Job description

Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will focus on dispute resolution, litigation, and minimising risk to the business.

Knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 and its associated Regulations is essential for this role.

Client Details

Our client is dedicated to providing services to homeowners regarding their freehold or leasehold ownership. They assist with invoicing and collection of ground rent, obtaining Landlord consents, arranging block maintenance and insurance, supporting property transfers, and managing lease extensions.

Description

1. Liaising with and taking instructions from the Director of Legal, Head of Litigation, and other senior managers and staff as required.
2. Managing a case load of predominantly property litigation matters, with appropriate supervision based on experience, covering all stages from pre-litigation to trial/hearing advocacy as needed.
3. Handling other ad-hoc building safety and property litigation matters as required, with supervision.
4. Collaborating with external solicitors and Counsel, monitoring external costs, and obtaining expenditure approvals.
5. Providing legal advice and support to internal clients (including Directors, Operations, Building Safety, Credit Control, Property Management, and Consent functions) on property legislation and regulatory compliance.
6. Supporting team staff in maintaining case files, records, database entries, reports on dispute matters, and other legal activities for internal and external clients.

Profile

• Solicitor or Barrister qualified to practice in England & Wales with a current, unrestricted Practising Certificate.
• High academic achievement and professional qualifications.
• Experience with the Building Safety Act 2022.
• Experience in residential long leasehold properties, excluding private rented (AST) sector.
