About your new role
Our Property Litigation team acts for public and private sector landlords, tenants and real estate developers, including local authorities, NHS Trusts, housing associations, social landlords, blue chip retailers, and owner-managed businesses. We utilize bespoke case management systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, adherence to court procedures, and meeting deadlines.
As a Paralegal, you will assist case handlers in property litigation, particularly with housing disrepair and gas/electrical access work. You may also support other property litigation matters such as lease renewals, property disputes, and housing issues. Ideally, you will be based in Birmingham or Manchester.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Ensuring compliance with Lexcel and internal procedures
- Assisting with and overseeing money laundering checks on new matters or where funds are received, under supervision
- Assisting case handlers with housing disrepair and other cases
- Managing your own caseload on property litigation and housing matters over time
- Communicating effectively with clients and third parties
- Preparing and copying trial and hearing bundles
- Preparing and copying enclosures for papers to counsel and court (or agents)
- Photocopying/electronic bundling for case handlers and secretaries
- Managing files, indexing, and collating large case papers; maintaining client details on physical files and case management systems
- Attending minor court applications (in chambers)
- Closing and archiving files
- Assisting with client reporting
- Establishing and maintaining precedent files for the team
- Performing administrative and fee-earning duties as appropriate
- Working in line with Weightmans’ values and policies
About You
Ideally, you will have previous paralegal experience and a genuine interest in property litigation. The role requires flexibility and adaptability to various tasks. You should have:

- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and concentration
- Good teamwork and collaboration skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in IT
