Job summary

Lancashire County Council in Preston is looking for a Commercial Property Lawyer to join our Legal Services team on a part-time, permanent basis. You will manage a complex caseload, draft and negotiate property documents, and provide expert advice on commercial property transactions within the public sector.

The role requires a qualified solicitor, barrister, or CILe Fellow with current practising certificate and strong drafting and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor, barrister, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, or equivalent with a current practising certificate.
• Developed experience in commercial property law.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently.
• Knowledge of local government and public law is desirable.

As a Commercial Property Lawyer, you will:

Manage a complex caseload involving all aspects of commercial property work.

Advise on law and practice relating to the structure of transactions and commercial property law.
Apply legal knowledge to support the council's strategic objectives while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

What we're looking for:

Local Government Reorganisation The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 2028.
