Job summary

HB Public Law, a shared legal service supporting multiple London boroughs, is recruiting Property Lawyers and Senior Property Lawyers to join the Property, Planning and Regeneration teams. The role offers a varied caseload across authorities, including sales, purchases, leases, licences, easements and title work.

Successful candidates will have property law experience, and a readiness to learn planning matters, with a strong client-care ethos.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX with litigation practising rights or eligibility to qualify.
• Experience in property law is essential.
• Ability to manage own caseload and prioritise demands.
• Strong client-care and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle a busy, varied caseload of property transactions including sales, purchases, leases, license and easements.
• Undertake planning work as needed and support the team on complex matters.

HB Public Law is an innovative and ambitious shared legal service operated by and based in the London Borough of Harrow and providing legal support to the London Boroughs of Harrow, Barnet and Hounslow, together with Slough Borough Council. HB Public Law are looking to recruit a Lawyer or Senior Lawyer to join their highly regarded Property, Planning and Regeneration teams.

This is a unique opportunity to undertake a varied and rewarding caseload, potentially across four local authorities, advising on matters that have a direct impact on local communities.

Applications from newly qualified lawyers with either property or planning experience (both is ideal), and a determination to learn, are welcome. Whether you are currently working in local government, private practice or another relevant environment, we would be keen to hear from you.

Responsibilities of the Property Lawyer:

The successful Property Lawyer will carry a busy but interesting and varied caseload of property transactions such as sales, purchases, commercial and residential leases (including lease extensions), commercial and residential sales and acquisitions, right to buy transactions, licences, easements, development agreements, landlord and tenant matters, title reports/investigations and follow on work. The successful Property Lawyer should also be willing to undertake some planning work and will be supervised and supported within the team as appropriate.

Depending on experience, the Property Lawyer will also support and mentor junior colleagues, contribute to training initiatives and help develop best practice across the team.

What the successful Property Lawyer will need:

We are looking for individuals who are motivated, collaborative and committed to delivering high-quality legal services.

You will be:

• A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) with litigation practising rights, or soon to qualify
• Experienced in property law
• Comfortable managing your own caseload and prioritising competing demands
• A strong communicator with excellent client care skills

• Local authority or private practice property lawyers with an interest in developing their skills in planning and regeneration law
• Newly qualified lawyers with relevant training or pupillage experience and willingness to develop in this area of work

Working Arrangements

HB Public Law operate from a hybrid office, and lawyers typically attend the office two days per week (which could include our client offices), together with any required committee attendance and client meetings (where these are not held remotely).
