Job summary

HB Public Law is recruiting a Planning and Regeneration Lawyer to join the Property, Planning and Regeneration Team. The role offers exposure to work across multiple local authorities, with a busy and varied caseload that directly impacts local communities.

We welcome applications from qualified Solicitors, Barristers or CILEX with planning experience, and care about collaborative, high-quality legal service delivery across four authorities.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX with litigation practising rights or soon to qualify.
• Experience in planning and regeneration law.
• Comfortable managing your own caseload and prioritising competing demands.

Responsibilities

• Handle planning and highway matters including section 278 and 106 agreements, CPOs, and deeds of variation.
• Attend planning committees and advise on highways, planning, and local government issues; conduct related appeals.
• Mentor junior colleagues, contribute to training, and promote best practice within the team.

HB Public Law is an innovative and ambitious shared legal service operated by and based in the London Borough of Harrow and providing legal support to the London Boroughs of Harrow, Barnet and Hounslow, together with Slough Borough Council. HB Public Law are looking to recruit a Lawyer or Senior Lawyer to join their highly regarded Property, Planning and Regeneration teams.

This is a unique opportunity to undertake a varied and rewarding caseload, potentially across four local authorities, advising on matters that have a direct impact on local communities.

Applications from newly qualified lawyers with either property or planning experience (both is ideal), and a determination to learn, are welcome. Whether you are currently working in local government, private practice or another relevant environment, we would be keen to hear from you.

Responsibilities of the Planning and Regeneration Lawyer:

The successful Planning and Regeneration Lawyer will carry a busy but interesting and varied caseload of planning and highway matters including section 278 agreements, section 106 agreements, compulsory purchase orders and deeds of variation. They will also attend planning committees, advise on general highways and planning issues and local government matters, and have conduct of any related appeals. The successful Planning and Regeneration Lawyer should also be willing to undertake some property transactions and will be supervised and supported within the team as appropriate.

Depending on experience, the Planning and Regeneration Lawyer will also support and mentor junior colleagues, contribute to training initiatives and help develop best practice across the team.

What the successful Planning and Regeneration Lawyer will need:

We are looking for individuals who are motivated, collaborative and committed to delivering high-quality legal services.

You will be:

• A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) with litigation practising rights, or soon to qualify
• Experienced in planning and regeneration law
• Comfortable managing your own caseload and prioritising competing demands
• A strong communicator with excellent client care skills

• Local authority or private practice planning and regeneration lawyers with an interest in developing their skills in property law
• Newly qualified lawyers with relevant training or pupillage experience and willingness to develop in this area of work

Working Arrangements

HB Public Law operate from a hybrid office, and lawyers typically attend the office two days per week (which could include our client offices), together with any required committee attendance and client meetings (where these are not held remotely).
