Our Vision: Continue to be the leading UK mobile infrastructure services company.

We are at an exciting time in our company’s development. We've come a long way since we were first formed in 2012. From the rollout of new technologies and managing complex legislation affecting the industry, we are leading the conversation on innovation and developing sharper solutions to serve our customers better. We collaborate as a team to meet the high standards expected of us and demand the best of ourselves through our values.

About the Role:

As Property Counsel (Acquisitions) you will support the property function of the legal team through providing assistance with all types of property transactions from the acquisition, renewal and upgrades/alterations of sites through to managing the service of statutory notices and issuing claims where required to protect the estate.

There will be a substantial element of legal supplier management involved as well as finance control and innovation to the legal process. Also emphasis on providing dedicated legal support to the Acquisition project.

You will be aligned with the demand leads of the Acquisition team and will be responsible for managing a volume of transactions and litigious matters with legal suppliers, reporting directly into the Senior Property Counsel within the Legal & Compliance Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rapidly build upon knowledge of telecoms leases within the role, given Cornerstone’s agreements are centered around the Electronic Communications Code (2017). Prior experience of the Code would be advantageous. A part of the role will be in assisting with the management of these transactions through weekly counsel sessions with our legal suppliers and acquisition ADMs, reporting on the same and providing front line support to legal escalations arising in this space
  • Gain a thorough comprehension of the statutory process pursuant to the Electronic Communications Code and LTA 1954; to be able to advise on the correct course of action from serving statutory notices, dealing with pre-claim matters and the issue of proceedings to unlock problematic sites.
  • Update a number of internal systems at various points throughout the transaction or litigious process, ensuring relevant milestones are claimed, notes on case status are kept up to date and relevant parties are informed as to matter progress. To regularly check-in with senior members of both the Acquisition and Legal & Compliance Team and provide updates on how various transactional work-streams are progressing.
  • As our legal work is outsourced we rely heavily on our relationship with our legal suppliers to ensure that workstreams are instructed and dealt with in a manner and at a cost that is satisfactory to Cornerstone. As such, we foster close working relationships with our legal supplier teams which require daily management and support. The successful candidate will be heavily involved in this and will require strong interpersonal and project management skills.
  • As part of a busy Legal & Compliance Team, there are departmental tasks that arise and form part of the regular workstream; from organising and attending meetings with suppliers, collaborating with the wider team and recording minutes, to providing legal training to other factions within the business. This role therefore requires a strong team player who is enthusiastic and willing to immerse themselves within the team culture.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • A qualified solicitor with experience in commercial property and litigation from a well-regarded city / regional firm.
  • A background in practicing Commercial Property Law
  • A robust understanding of Landlord/Tenant law.
  • A keen eye for detail, as well as an enthusiastic and proactive approach.
  • Be a collaborative team player with excellent organizational skills.
  • Responsive and approachable; able to build strong working relationships.
  • Ability to make decisions quickly.
  • Good commercial awareness with ability to deliver clear advice.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using a variety of formats with colleagues and others outside the business
  • Ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
