Job summary

Squared is seeking a Compliance Officer for a 12-month fixed-term contract in Luton. You will support property compliance, health and safety duties, and contractor coordination across Squared’s homes and offices.

The role emphasizes audits, records, and timely action on compliance findings. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in property compliance, H&S knowledge, and experience coordinating contractors.

Qualifications

• Must have UK manual driving licence with less than 6 points.
• GCSE/Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent.
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Construction Award or similar building maintenance qualification.
• Health and Safety at Work qualification.
• Experience working within property compliance, facilities management or maintenance environments.
• Understanding of landlord compliance responsibilities and statutory compliance requirements.
• Experience carrying out inspections, audits or compliance checks.
• Experience coordinating contractors, inspections and access arrangements.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance obligations.
• Ability to identify, investigate and escalate compliance risks and concerns.
• Strong organisational, record-keeping and IT skills (Word and Excel).

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled emergency lighting, fire and smoke alarm testing with audit-ready records.
• Conduct periodic health and safety inspections and report concerns.
• Support ongoing compliance across all workstreams with the partner.
• Review fire risk assessments and coordinate resulting actions.
• Coordinate remedial actions and monitor progress to completion.
• Maintain up-to-date compliance records and audit trails.
• Liaise with managers and fire safety contractors to address faults and servicing.
• Provide training and guidance on fire safety plans and evacuations.
• Undertake PAT testing across properties and offices with accurate records.
• Carry out regular site audits to ensure procedures are followed and safety equipment is maintained.
• Undertake legionella monitoring and testing with recorded results.
• Carry out asbestos condition checks and document findings.
• Organise fire evacuation drills with managers.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety legislation and internal policies.
• Attend emergencies outside hours as required.
• Act as a conduit with contractors and follow up actions.
• Coordinate inspections and contractor access with residents and staff.
• Monitor compliance workstreams and escalate risks as needed.
• Perform due-diligence surveys for new properties prior to occupation.
• Contribute to weekly Compliance team meetings with updates.
