SSE Energy Markets secure the energy needed to power customers' lives, while creating value for SSE. Our Energy Markets trading teams buy the fuel needed to deliver cleaner energy and sell power generated in our wind farm, hydro and thermal assets back to the markets.

Base Location: Perth or Edinburgh – this is a hybrid role working part of your week from the office at the advertised location.

Salary: £63,000 - £94,400 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

As Prompt Trading Manager you will drive a small and talented team responsible for the strategic trading and optimisation of the dynamic and flexible generation portfolio for SSE. Your experience for GB and European energy markets will help to deliver value for one of Europe's leading energy companies across interconnected markets.

You will

1. Motivate, develop short term strategies and lead a team of talented energy traders and trading analysts who are responsible for the front month to day ahead markets.
2. Make key decisions on the hedging and trading for the whole SSE generation portfolio with the support from trading analysts and interpreting complex analysis.
3. Use your experience of the wholesale European energy markets to make informed decisions.
4. Be comfortable communicating complex strategies to senior leadership and peers.
5. Be at the forefront and restless in the evolving energy markets, continually driving value and efficiency.

You have

1. Thorough knowledge of trading systems and processes that enable energy markets.
2. Deep understanding of the regulatory obligations and governance of energy markets and trading activities.
3. Proven track record of managing high value, motivated and driven talented trading teams.
4. Excellent demonstrated numerical ability and knowledge of modelling tools.

Successful candidates will be highly motivated with experience of a similar energy trading environments with a proven track record of excellence, attention to detail and ability to develop and deliver winning trading strategies.
