Job summary

We Manage Jobs (WMJobs) is seeking Adults Support Workers (Promoting Independence Assistants) in Worcester with county-wide travel. Roles available as part-time or full-time, to be discussed at interview; base pay £13.47/hour with an 8% enhancement for Sunday work and a £250 welcome bonus.

You will help customers regain independence after hospital discharge or crisis, assisting with personal care, mobility and meal preparation, and encouraging them to do as much as possible themselves.

Qualifications

The role

As a Support Worker (Promoting Independence Assistant) in reablement, you’ll be playing a key role in helping our customers regain and promote their independence and continue living in their own home, following hospital discharge or crisis intervention. This includes helping clients to relearn skills in their lives, such as personal care such as washing, personal hygiene, dressing as well as support with mobility and preparing meals.

You will providesupport in a way that helps people ‘to do’ rather than ‘doing for’ people. Initially hands‑on assistance may be required but Promoting Independence Assistants will enable and encourage the service user to do as much for themselves as possible.

About you

We are looking for people who can demonstrate a can-do attitude, and that are proactive, compassionate, and empathetic. You should have commitment to developing the lives of people and passionate about providing care and support.

You will need to have good communication skills and excellent organisation skills. It is also important that you have an understanding of maintaining the health and safety, and wellbeing of service users in their own homes.

Travel required – You will be required to travel around Worcestershire, so a Full driving licence and own vehicle is essential.

This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed. This will include details of cautions, reprimands, or final warnings, as well as convictions.
