Job Summary

Venture Arts is an award-winning visual arts organisation working with learning disabled and neurodivergent artists of all ages. We are looking for a caring, patient, motivated, and organised person to support the planning, coordination, administration, and evaluation of our projects. This is a 30-hour per week role, offering £27-29K FTE per year.

Job Description

Venture Arts is committed to removing barriers to the arts, championing neurodiversity, and providing pathways for individuals to develop their creative identity through studio programmes, exhibitions, and collaborative projects. We empower people to succeed as artists, advocates, educators, curators, and critics.

We seek a caring, patient, motivated, and organised individual to join our vibrant team. The role involves supporting the planning, coordination, administration, and evaluation of artistic programmes and projects in collaboration with the Head of Creative Development. Responsibilities include supporting artists, communicating with artists, partner venues, parents, and carers, and helping artists take on leadership roles within our artist steering group and outreach projects.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the arts, enjoy working with people, and be skilled at supporting individuals to flourish. Experience in arts project management, strong communication skills, and confidence in liaising with arts professionals are essential. Adaptability and comfort with managing change are important for this role.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least two years' professional experience in developing and delivering participatory art programmes and events.
  • Experience working with artists and participants on their professional development.
  • Experience working with individuals with support needs or facing barriers.
  • Experience collaborating with external organisations.
  • Line management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong admin, planning, time management, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A positive, caring personality.
  • Adaptability to last-minute changes.
  • Reliability and trustworthiness.
  • Confidence in regional travel to support others.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends occasionally.
  • Ability to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support planning, coordination, administration, delivery, and evaluation of artistic programmes and projects with the Head of Creative Development.
  • Support artists and communicate effectively with artists, parents, and carers.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Promote personal and skills development, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Develop and nurture external partnerships with schools, networks, and arts organisations.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, meeting their aims and objectives.
  • Support artists through the changes related to our building refurbishment and expansion.
  • Collaborate across the team.
  • Line manage and support the Public Engagement Assistant and two Workshop Assistants.
  • Coordinate staffing with management.
