Projects Health and Safety Advisor - R&D
Hertfordshire
Rate: ~ £400 per day (Outside IR35)
Initial 6 Month Contract (likely ongoing)

A leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology company is seeking a Projects Health and Safety Advisor to support a significant programme of R&D-related infrastructure and equipment upgrades. This role will be crucial in ensuring safety and compliance across laboratory projects, including new equipment installations and lab refurbishments.

The successful candidate will serve as the EHS point of contact for R&D-led project activities, providing guidance during design and planning phases to prioritize safety, practicality, and sustainability.

The role will involve:

• Acting as the main EHS contact for multiple R&D projects across the site
• Reviewing user requirements, design documents, and change control for technical projects
• Ensuring EHS considerations are embedded before construction, with a focus on laboratory environments
• Coordinating with internal experts on safety topics such as gases, LEV systems, and hazardous materials
• Providing hands-on support for lab-based changes, including equipment upgrades and refurbishments

Requirements for the successful Projects Health and Safety Advisor include:

• Experience in lab safety within pharma, biopharma, or R&D environments
• Background in health and safety in technical or scientific workplaces
• Proactive, solutions-oriented approach to safety in fast-paced, high-tech settings
• NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent (NEBOSH Diploma, NCRQ, NVQ 5 preferred)
• Graduate or Chartered Membership of IOSH (or working towards)
