Job summary

Trane Technologies in Southampton is seeking a Projects Engineer to support sales teams and customers, providing technical advice to develop and implement HVAC and process cooling solutions.

You will manage on-site installations, coordinate subcontractors, produce costings and quotes, and ensure projects meet deadlines and safety standards while building strong client relationships. Travel nationally as required and collaborate with engineers and suppliers to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Project management with commercial experience at intermediate level.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for procurement of all equipment and subcontracts for projects under your control.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers and stakeholders as a trusted contact.
• Coordinate communications with suppliers, sales teams, customers, and stakeholders.
• Translate complex technical activities for non-technical audiences.
• Attend site visits with Sales Engineers to advise and produce costings and quotes.
• Review new projects and finalize designs at the commercial level.
• Lead project handovers with customers to confirm scope and timelines.
• Develop detailed project plans and troubleshoot engineering issues.
• Coordinate equipment parts and subcontractors to meet deadlines.
• Oversee installations and commissioning to ensure technical adequacy.
• Manage engineers on site and ensure safety and contractual compliance.
• Identify resources and assign responsibilities; manage project budgets.
• Filter design flaws during the project lifecycle.

Position Overview

The Projects Engineer role will support the sales teams, customers, and stakeholders in providing technical advice to develop and successfully implement products and service solutions to meet customer needs. The primary objective is to develop business development relationships with sales, customers and sub-contractors and deliver a high standard for projects in the HVAC and Process Cooling industry.

Key Responsibilities

Customer and Stakeholder Relationships

• Accountable for the procurement for all equipment and subcontracts works related to all projects in your control.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers, acting as a trusted point of contact.
• Accountable for in and outbound calls to suppliers, sales teams, customers, and stakeholders.
• Able to communicate complex technical engineering activities to non-technical stakeholders.
• High volume and fast paced so able to be flexible and adaptable during each project and keeping customers updated throughout.
• Attend site visits with Sales Engineers and stakeholders to advise and produce costings and quotes on installation projects.

Internal Controls And Processes

• Participate in review of new projects to finalise designs of new orders at commercial level.
• Attend project handover with the customer to confirm scope and timeline requirements.
• Produce detailed project plans and troubleshoot issues on technical engineering scenarios.
• Co-ordination of equipment parts and subcontractors to ensure required deadlines are achieved.
• Providing technical support to clients and sales engineers, co-ordinating projects
• Managing installations and commissioning of industrial cooling systems to ensure they are technically correct to an acceptable standard.
• Managing engineers/teams on site, ensuring contract agreements are met and health and safety standards are maintained.
• Identify resources and assign responsibilities.
• Financial control of projects including budgeting and costs
• Assist in filtering design flaws throughout the project.

Skills And Capabilities

• Knowledge of manufacturing industry an advantage
• Project Engineer background is an advantage.
• Project Management with commercial experience at intermediate level
• People and communication skills with a positive mindset
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
• National travel and able to travel to other Countries when required.
• Right to Work status confirmed for Country of application.
• UK drivers’ licence
