Job description

Project Worker - Violence Reduction (based in custody)
  • Full-time
  • Contract type: Permanent
  • Department: Justice
  • Service type: London Violence Reduction Service

Catch22 exists to help build a society where everyone has a good place to live, good people around them, and a fulfilling purpose. We call these our ‘3Ps’.

We achieve this in two ways: we improve lives through frontline delivery of public services, and we use our knowledge to change ‘the system’ by fixing the complex web that can trap and disempower those it was set up to help. With the heart of a charity and the mindset of a business, we are uniquely placed to deliver on this challenging agenda.

In Justice, we work with young people and adults in custody and in the community, providing a range of services including offender management, mentoring, victim services, gangs work, and youth justice. We believe that with effective support mechanisms and the correct interventions, we can change service users’ ideology, helping them desist from crime and reach their true potential.

Join Catch22 as a Project Worker supporting service users in remand within HMP Wandsworth or HMP Pentonville. In this pivotal role, you will deliver interventions that deter violence, promote life skills, and provide practical support for prisoners during their transition.

You will:

  1. Organise and manage remand support hubs, offering guidance on housing, ID, banking, and employment.
  2. Deliver Catch22’s Life Skills Programme through group sessions and tailored interventions.
  3. Collaborate with prison staff and external agencies to provide coordinated support.
  4. Use strengths-based and solution-focused approaches to address individual needs.
  5. Respond to referrals, creating action plans that reduce risks of violence.

This is an opportunity to build rapport with vulnerable individuals, enabling their reintegration into society while fostering a safer prison environment.

Requirements include:

  • Experience working within custodial settings or with high-risk individuals.
  • Strong advocacy and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, housing, and employment support systems.
  • Relevant qualifications in youth justice, criminology, or related fields.
  • Experience delivering one-to-one and group interventions.
