Job summary

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is seeking an assembly technician for the RF Power Project Development team. The role focuses on mechanical and electrical assembly and testing of complete RF systems, working with lead engineers, designers, and project managers to deliver high-reliability products.

You will fabricate and integrate sub-systems, build electrical assemblies and cables, and interpret schematics and procedures with limited supervision.

Qualifications

  • ONC / OND NVQ Level 3 (BTEC) / HNC in Electrical / Electronic engineering or equivalent experience working within a professional engineering development / production environment.
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work from assembly drawings / schematics, work instructions and procedures with limited supervision.
  • Familiarity using standard test equipment and interpreting results.
  • Comfortable working in a small engineering team and supporting others.
  • Small form factor soldering and / or J standard qualification (or willingness to learn).
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing production requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Fabrication and integration of sub-systems and components.
  • Manufacture of electrical assemblies and cables.
  • Working from schematics and assembly drawings.
  • Prioritising and completing tasks to agreed timescales.
  • Provide effective feedback to project teams, stakeholders and management (both written and verbal).

  • Support a proactive safety culture including risk management and mitigation.

Role Overview

The RF Power Project Development team is responsible for the development and delivery of next generation future products within the RF Power division portfolio. Although this is a multi-disciplined team, this role focuses on mechanical and electrical assembly and test of complete RF systems.

As part of the project delivery team, this role involves the fabrication and integration of RF systems. Working closely with experienced lead engineers, designers, test engineers and project manager’s, support the product deliverables through electrical / electronic and mechanical assembly.

This role would suit an assembly technician who enjoys hands on experience of electrical / electronic assembly of complete systems, cables and mechanical fabrication.

  • Fabrication and integration of sub-systems and components.
  • Manufacture of electrical assemblies and cables.
  • Working from schematics and assembly drawings.
  • Prioritising and completing tasks to agreed timescales.
  • Provide effective (accurate and timely) feedback to project teams, stakeholders and management (both written and verbal).
  • Mentor other members of the project fabrication and test team as required.
  • Support a proactive safety culture which includes risk management and mitigation.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas (typical 5 to 10% per year).

Experience And Qualifications

ONC / OND NVQ Level 3 (BTEC) / HNC in Electrical / Electronic engineering or equivalent experience working within a professional engineering development / production environment.

Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.

Proven ability to work from assembly drawings / schematics, work instructions and procedures with limited supervision.

Familiarity using standard test equipment and interpreting results.

Comfortable working in a small engineering team and supporting others.

Small form factor soldering and / or J standard qualification (or willingness to learn).

Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing production requirements.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of high voltage testing / electrical safety / Lock Out Tag out.

Competent in the use of AutoCad (ideally AutoCad Electrical).

Experience of RF test methodologies.

PCB rework.
