The Role:

So, what will you be doing as a Project Systems Engineering Lead?

• Lead and manage the engineering team to successfully deliver project milestones, ensuring high-quality results within agreed timelines and budget constraints.
• Oversee and manage work packages, ensuring that all activities are aligned with project requirements and objectives.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure clear communication, managing dependencies, risks, and opportunities effectively.
• Develop and manage engineering plans, ensuring all assumptions, risks, and opportunities are identified, communicated, and actively managed.
• Provide leadership across the full project lifecycle, from requirements elicitation through to production.
• Manage configuration and change control throughout the engineering process.
• Ensure compliance with all engineering standards, methodologies, and best practices.

What are we looking for in our next Project Systems Engineering Lead?

• Strong experience managing complex engineering projects, with a proven track record in work package management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships within the team and with stakeholders.
• Prior experience working on defence projects.
• Proven ability to manage engineering teams through the development phase of a project, including requirements elicitation, design, testing, and production.
• Skilled in engineering estimation and production of engineering plans.
• Familiarity with the different design gates a project goes through, from bid to production readiness review.
• Solid understanding of configuration management and change management processes.
• A background in systems engineering, with knowledge across electrical, mechanical, and software engineering disciplines.
• Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams in the defence sector
• A relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualifications.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
