Oxford Archaeology seeks a Project Supervisor for its Post-Excavation team in Cambridge. This full-time role involves leading post-excavation analysis, writing reports, and contributing to various archaeological projects. PROJECT SUPERVISOR (Post-Excavation), Cambridge Office
Oxford Archaeology is one of the largest independent archaeological practices in Europe. The Position:
We are seeking a Supervisor to join our highly successful and respected Post-Excavation team in Cambridge. The postholder will report to the Regional Head of Post-Excavation and will contribute to a range of archaeological investigations and projects. The Supervisor will carry out stratigraphic analysis and the interpretation, analysis and presentation of project data. They will work primarily in post-excavation analysis, but may also provide research support for other departments as required.
This post is offered as a full-time role. Hybrid working is also possible.
The role will encompass varied responsibilities, the key aspects of which are:
• Post-excavation analysis leading to appropriate contributions and outputs.
• Writing grey literature reports and publications (including journal articles).
Position Requirements
• Experience of post-excavation work and the writing of archaeological reports.
· Good understanding of archaeological stratigraphy and the interpretation of excavated sites.
• Thorough knowledge of British archaeology.
· The ability to conduct small scale analysis or contribute to major analyses by undertaking a range of post-excavation tasks and techniques
· The ability to collect, record, store and present post-excavation data accurately.
• The ability to undertake academic research on relevant subjects.
· The ability to work independently when required but also to operate as part of a team.
• Good organisational and administrative skills.
• A degree (or equivalent experience) in archaeology, archaeological science or a related discipline.
• The ability to operate with regard to health and safety legislation and any related policies
and procedures.
• Some specialist knowledge of one or more categories of post-excavation subject areas.
· The ability to drive.
