Project Supervisor – Mechanical
Birmingham
Monday to Friday 36hrs/wk
Fixed-term 2-year contract

Our client is a leading manufacturer based in Birmingham and is currently recruiting for an experienced Project Supervisor to join their team. If you are an experienced Project Supervisor with a background in engineering, mechanically-minded, and a strong leader – this is the role for you!

Position Overview

As a Project Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing both civil and mechanical aspects of projects, ensuring their smooth execution and successful completion. You will be responsible for managing supplier tenders, assessments, and procurement processes, as well as supervising the relocation of equipment. This position requires close collaboration with site management, suppliers, contractors, and various departments to ensure project objectives are met.

Responsibilities
  1. Act as project lead for civil and mechanical elements, including tender processes and equipment relocation
  2. Participate in the development of designs, assessments, and procurement processes for key process plant
  3. Define and produce the scope of supply to support accurate project costs
  4. Assist in the implementation of process improvements to existing plant
  5. Produce detailed cost estimates for revenue or capital projects
  6. Correspond and conduct meetings with suppliers, progress chasing their deliveries
  7. Specify and check drawings required for component production and installation
  8. Plan and program project steps, from preliminary work to installation
  9. Supervise project site work, coordinating trades and activities
  10. Coordinate commissioning and compile operating instructions and documentation
  11. Liaise with Production and Maintenance Departments
  12. Maintain budget and ensure best value at all times
  13. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation & contractor control procedures
Requirements
  1. HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (essential)
  2. Experience managing projects from concept to completion (essential)
  3. Strong safety culture (essential)
  4. Budget control experience (desirable)
  5. SAP knowledge (desirable)
  6. PM experience – engineering background
