Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Project Supervisor on an Initial 3 Month Contract, based in St Fergus.
Role Summary
- Ensure that the Principal Contractor (PC) is pro-active in discharging his duties under the CDM regulations, not least in managing all safety aspects of the construction-based activities.
- Ensure the facilitation of regular site safety walks, holding coordination meetings with all contractors on site, ensuring that access/egress to the site is controlled and maintaining a site log/diary.
- Review the suitability of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Provide input to, review and comment on the deliverability of the PC Site Delivery Programmes and proactively monitor all activities, promptly advising the Project Engineer of any programme risks.
- Chair regular (weekly) Site Progress Meetings with all Contractors and issue minutes of these meetings, maintaining a file of these on site.
- Be familiar with industry construction standards and will be expected to inspect, approve or reject materials and workmanship.
- Undertake the role of Engineer's representative for sensible monitoring of site construction activities and be familiar with all aspects of the contract documentation (where appropriate).
- Issue site instructions following agreement from the Project Manager and authenticate any record sheets issued by the Principal Contractor. (Familiarity with standard contract terms and conditions is desirable).
- Review and confirm that the PC Commissioning programme is acceptable from a delivery perspective.
- Ensure that a drawing documentation system is established on site, which clearly indexes drawings logged and filed in specific sections.
- Maintain the system throughout with the latest working drawings/revisions clearly noted and drawings filed to ensure they are readily available.
- Fully support the Project Manager with contract administration (raise Early Warning Notices, gather evidence regarding contract evaluations, etc).
Requirements
- Support the Project Manager with Month End finance cycle.
- Cost verification (Site eyes & ears).
- Educated to at least ONC/HNC level or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
- Basic Project Management skills including management of risk for delivery of projects to scope, time, cost, quality, safety and security of supply.
- Awareness of NEC4 contracts.
- Good understanding of Safety and Environmental legislation and practices and policies.
- Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.
- Previous experience of project site management capability of working to deadlines and in a contracting environment.
- Experience and understanding of current National Grid and Partner HR policies and procedures.
- Fulfil the role of T/PM/SCO/91 and T/PM/SCO/94 competent person as required.
