Job description

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Project Supervisor on an Initial 3 Month Contract, based in St Fergus.

Role Summary
  1. Ensure that the Principal Contractor (PC) is pro-active in discharging his duties under the CDM regulations, not least in managing all safety aspects of the construction-based activities.
  2. Ensure the facilitation of regular site safety walks, holding coordination meetings with all contractors on site, ensuring that access/egress to the site is controlled and maintaining a site log/diary.
  3. Review the suitability of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  4. Provide input to, review and comment on the deliverability of the PC Site Delivery Programmes and proactively monitor all activities, promptly advising the Project Engineer of any programme risks.
  5. Chair regular (weekly) Site Progress Meetings with all Contractors and issue minutes of these meetings, maintaining a file of these on site.
  6. Be familiar with industry construction standards and will be expected to inspect, approve or reject materials and workmanship.
  7. Undertake the role of Engineer's representative for sensible monitoring of site construction activities and be familiar with all aspects of the contract documentation (where appropriate).
  8. Issue site instructions following agreement from the Project Manager and authenticate any record sheets issued by the Principal Contractor. (Familiarity with standard contract terms and conditions is desirable).
  9. Review and confirm that the PC Commissioning programme is acceptable from a delivery perspective.
  10. Ensure that a drawing documentation system is established on site, which clearly indexes drawings logged and filed in specific sections.
  11. Maintain the system throughout with the latest working drawings/revisions clearly noted and drawings filed to ensure they are readily available.
  12. Fully support the Project Manager with contract administration (raise Early Warning Notices, gather evidence regarding contract evaluations, etc).
Requirements
  1. Support the Project Manager with Month End finance cycle.
  2. Cost verification (Site eyes & ears).
  3. Educated to at least ONC/HNC level or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
  4. Basic Project Management skills including management of risk for delivery of projects to scope, time, cost, quality, safety and security of supply.
  5. Awareness of NEC4 contracts.
  6. Good understanding of Safety and Environmental legislation and practices and policies.
  7. Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  8. Previous experience of project site management capability of working to deadlines and in a contracting environment.
  9. Experience and understanding of current National Grid and Partner HR policies and procedures.
  10. Fulfil the role of T/PM/SCO/91 and T/PM/SCO/94 competent person as required.
