Glencore Copper is seeking a seasoned Project Services Manager to support the growth and development of our Copper Portfolio to be based at our Maidenhead office in England. This role will support our projects and current operations in Africa.

Role Overview:
The Project Services Manager is responsible for providing critical project services, governance, assurance, systems, and strategic advice to support Glencore Copper’s capital projects within the Africa region, primarily focused on the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Frequent travel to Johannesburg and the DRC is essential for successful collaboration and oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and optimise the Copper Capital Management Framework (CMF), ensuring compliance with global standards and practices that are fit for purpose for projects in the Africa region.
  • Provide governance, oversight, and assurance across the regional project portfolio, including active participation and facilitation of Asset Project Control Groups, project steering committees and the Copper Investment Committee.
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and transparency in project reporting, enhancing decision-making capabilities and maintaining rigorous project control processes to deliver objectives timely and within budget.
  • Deliver strategic analytics, insights, and advice to optimise the Copper Portfolio Capital Planning and Program Management processes, contributing directly to project priority ranking and investment decision-making.
  • Conduct independent detailed project cost estimations, risk analyses, and schedule reviews at key stage gates throughout project lifecycles.
  • Identify and proactively manage project risks, ensuring compliance with standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with Life of Asset (LoA), Life of Mine Planning (LOMP), Technical and Operational Excellence teams to capture and embed best practices and innovative approaches to enhance project outcomes and operational efficiencies.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in project management methodologies, tools, and systems to mitigate risk and improve capital effectiveness across the region.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and improvement across the regional project services function, facilitating growth, sustainability, and increased capital productivity.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and coaching to project personnel and external consultants, ensuring adherence to CMF processes and standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in a project services or similar role within the resources, mining, or industrial sectors with practical delivery experience.
  • Significant experience working with project delivery organisations within the Central African region (DRC experience would be highly advantageous).
  • Proven track record of effective stakeholder management at all organisational levels.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Commercial and financial acumen with the ability to perform detailed cost and schedule analyses.

  • Africa Projects team, including Project Controls, Capital Procurement, Risk, ESG, and Study and Project Directors.
  • Copper Investment Committee.
  • Copper Asset Senior Leadership Teams.
  • Life of Mine Planning (LOMP) & Technical Services.
  • Operational Excellence Team.
  • Regional PMOs.
  • External contractors and consultants.
  • Ability to travel regularly to remote project sites and regional offices in Johannesburg and the DRC.
  • Proficiency in French is highly advantageous.
