The post holder will be part of the DFN Project SEARCH programme, working in partnership with Host Business ASDA in Weymouth and SWRAC as the educational provider to deliver the specific DFN Project SEARCH programme to interns.

The post holder will be based at Asda in Weymouth. Interns are young adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. Interns are recruited over the summer months to start in September. The role follows the academic year, mainly during term time. The DFN Project SEARCH trainer provides individualized support for interns during rotations to help them acquire competitive, marketable skills.

This may include: Systematic Instruction to teach and break down tasks, building natural supports, developing reasonable adjustments, identifying assistive technology, etc. The trainer also supports co-workers, employers, and families.

The successful candidates will work term time only, totaling 41 weeks, offering a good work-life balance.

The hours are 33.42 during term time, with a pro-rata salary of £23,825.95. The full-time salary is £26,734.68.

Interviews will be face-to-face in Weymouth on 08/05/2025.

About the role

Your main duties will include:

  • Facilitating the training and integration of students with disabilities in worksite rotations or competitive environments.
  • Communicating effectively with tutors, skills trainers, managers/mentors, co-workers, families, and college staff regarding the intern's development.
  • Performing task analysis, especially when interns face learning challenges.
  • Assisting with completing Vocational Profiles to assess abilities and match interns to tasks.
