The Defence Infrastructure Cost Centre supports projects of varying complexity and size, offering services in Programme and Project Management, Cost Engineering, Risk Management, and more. We assist throughout the project lifecycle, delivering infrastructure projects ranging from hundreds of thousands to over £200M.

We are expanding our team to meet client demands, seeking talented individuals to support our Defence client portfolio on complex projects, with opportunities across the UK.

Role Overview

Important: Due to project sensitivity, applicants must be SOLE UK Nationals capable of obtaining and maintaining UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). Existing SC clearance is preferred but not mandatory.

We seek Risk Professionals to join the Defence North team, supporting projects across the UK, including Midlands, Cumbria, North East, and Scotland. Our central office is in Manchester, with team members across the North.

This role requires experience in project or programme environments within Defence, Nuclear, Infrastructure, or Construction industries, with knowledge of Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) being advantageous.

Expect to work closely with clients, often on-site or in offices, up to 60% of the time, with flexibility based on needs.

Main Responsibilities
  • Risk Identification & Assessment: Conduct risk workshops, analyze threats and opportunities, and evaluate their impact.
  • Strategic Risk Mitigation: Develop and implement strategies to minimize disruptions.
  • Risk Register & Reporting: Maintain risk registers, produce reports, and communicate risk status effectively.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with project managers, clients, and leadership to align risk strategies.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Use risk analysis tools and QRA models to inform decisions.
  • Process and Procedure: Create risk management plans aligned with industry standards.
  • Risk Workshops & Training: Lead sessions to promote proactive risk management culture.
Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Experience in project/programme environments within relevant industries.
  • Knowledge of risk management frameworks like ISO31000.
  • Experience with risk management software (e.g., ARM, @Risk, Primavera Risk Analysis).
  • Proficiency in Quantitative Risk Analysis and reporting.
  • Understanding of project controls disciplines.
  • Familiarity with project life cycles (RIBA, GRIP).
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., APM Project Risk Management, IRM).
Working Arrangements

Turner & Townsend supports hybrid working to balance work and personal life. Expect to be on-site or in offices about 60% of the time, depending on project needs.
