Role description:

We are currently seeking a number of enthusiastic and energetic Quantity Surveyors to join our Cost & Commercial Management team to support our continuing growth within our resilience business for a Global Client in the Water Sector.

You will be a Cost Consultant within our Cost & Commercial Management team, with opportunities to work on a variety of water/utilities projects and programmes in South Hampshire or West Sussex.

The role sits within our Resilience GBA, where we work to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations. We’re addressing the effects of climate change, urbanization, and biodiversity loss, with large-scale events like floods and wildfires becoming more frequent. We are here to protect natural resources and power future generations.

Role accountabilities:

  • Administer post-contract NEC contracts, including assessing contractual changes and payments, working with the Project Manager and Senior Cost Consultant.
  • Liaise with external contractors and consultants.
  • Support suppliers in providing accurate Project Cost and Financial Forecasts.
  • Provide commercial support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle to minimize cost and scope changes.
  • Offer contract support and advice.
  • Assist in pre-contract activities, including estimating and procurement.
  • Support risk and opportunity management, validating costs for the Project Efficiency register.
  • Participate in lessons learned workshops and risk/value management meetings.
  • Audit and agree on Final Accounts.

Other requirements:

Opportunities for on-site and hybrid work with client travel between South Hampshire and West Sussex.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Self-management and prioritization skills, able to work under pressure.
  • Willingness to learn and develop.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, cost and commercial management in a consultancy setting.
  • Experience with NEC Contracts.
  • Ability to support and manage junior staff on projects typically valued between £1m and £20m.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with stakeholder influence ability.
  • Degree in a relevant subject (or equivalent).
  • Membership in a professional body such as MRICS or working towards chartership.
  • Experience in water, wastewater, or regulated industries is desirable.
