Job Description:

An award-winning Building & Civil Engineering contractor based in Co. Down has a new opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team. The company has recently expanded into new markets and business sectors, particularly in infrastructure and specialist areas, and has gained a reputation as a leading and reputable contractor delivering quality solutions to its wide-ranging customer base.

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for providing commercial support to the project team, maintaining commercial information, and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements. Responsibilities include liaising with customer representatives and third parties on commercial issues such as variations, claims, and additional payments.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, key responsibilities include:

  1. Ensure robust, accurate, and timely cost and value reporting at project and business unit levels.
  2. Ensure accurate cash flow reporting.
  3. Carry out cost management including forecasting.
  4. Update monthly CVR, cost, and commercial plans, and be accountable for commercial performance and strategy.
  5. Ensure subcontractors have appropriate terms and conditions, with identified commercial risks.
  6. Engage the supply chain with correct contract terms.
  7. Foster good client relationships.
  8. Manage subcontract letting, negotiation, and financial accounting.
  9. Ensure effective interaction between the commercial and operational site teams.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a QS role, a degree in Quantity Surveying, and familiarity with ICE/NEC forms of contract (NEC3 or NEC4) and current Construction Law.
