Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is recruiting a Project Quality Manager for the ANTC Project, part of National Grid's Great Grid Upgrade. You will embed a culture of quality across the project lifecycle and work with multidisciplinary teams to drive right-first-time delivery.

You'll provide leadership across Substation and OHL scopes, support continuous improvement, and develop the quality function as the team grows. Location: Bury St Edmunds, with transition to Chelmsford later.

• Experience in quality management on large infrastructure projects is desirable.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to influence outcomes.

Looking for a role where you can genuinely influence project success and help deliver the UK's future energy infrastructure?

We're recruiting a Project Quality Manager to join the ANTC Project, part of National Grid's Great Grid Upgrade Programme.

This is a unique opportunity to make your mark on a major infrastructure project, supporting the delivery of both Substation and Overhead Line (OHL) works that will strengthen the UK's electricity network for generations to come.

Location: Bury St Edmunds until mid-2027, before transitioning to project compounds near Chelmsford as the project progresses.

What you'll be doing

As Project Quality Manager, you'll work closely with project teams, delivery partners and suppliers to embed a culture of quality across the project lifecycle.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

• Influence quality performance across nationally significant infrastructure works
• Partner with multidisciplinary teams to drive right-first-time delivery
• Build strong relationships across project, client and supply chain teams
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and share best practice
• Provide leadership and direction across both Substation and OHL scopes
• Support the growth and development of the quality function, including two Quality Engineers as the team expands

Who we're looking for

Your experience may come from:

• Utilities or energy
• Infrastructure or civil engineering
• Power transmission or distribution
• Rail, highways or other major projects
• Complex construction programmes
