Join a leading provider of mixed tenure affordable homes as a Senior Quantity Surveyor. In this site-based role, you'll manage cost control and oversee junior surveyors while ensuring effective cash management and cultivating strong client relationships. This role requires a degree in quantity surveying and experience in construction, emphasizing commercial skills and decision-making.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the East Midlands team, working on Mixed Tenure and/or Contracting schemes within the region. The role will be site-based, with occasional travel to our regional office in Derby.
Reporting to our Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the financial cost control and reporting of one or more developments from the award stage up to and including the completion of client and sub-contract final accounts, recovery/discharge of all retentions, and completion of archive material.
You will work within a busy Quantity Surveying department, ensuring effective cash management and careful administration of sub-contractor accounts. It is essential to cultivate longstanding relationships and promote dispute avoidance. You will be responsible for swiftly identifying any commercial threats to projects, communicating these to the Managing Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Director. As a senior team member, you will supervise and train Assistant and Trainee Surveyors, setting targets and allocating duties while maintaining quality.
Applicants should be educated to a minimum of degree level in quantity surveying with substantial relevant experience in the construction industry. Client-driven, with strong decision-making and communication skills, you should be able to prioritize work against tight deadlines and conflicting priorities.
You should be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, with significant knowledge of measurement, valuation, final accounts, and sub-contract orders and buying. Strong commercial skills to maximize value recovery, cost control, and cash management are essential. You should be comfortable preparing and understanding financial reports and utilising COINS.
