Role description:

We are looking for a Planning Engineer to join our Nuclear Consultancy business supporting some of the UK's largest Nuclear work. The projects combine both new build and decommissioning within a structured collaborative environment working with colleagues who are focused on innovative solutions and teamwork where the focus is on delivery of programme outputs.

As part of our Programme and Project Management team, you'll help deliver some of the biggest, most iconic projects imaginable, with some of the best talent around. With your energy, agility and a keen eye for detail, you'll deliver transformational outcomes for multiple clients every day.

The role sits within our global business area Resilience. We work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. We address challenges like climate change, urbanization, and biodiversity loss, and aim to protect our environment while supporting sustainable development.

Role accountabilities:

  1. Development of schedules for baseline and subsequent development of detailed project schedules to support project delivery.
  2. Manage and report on Critical Path Analysis.
  3. Assess subcontractor programs as per NEC requirements.
  4. Ensure baseline and detailed project schedules remain aligned and compliant with standards.
  5. Monitor interdependencies between projects and programmes, recording and tracking impacts.
  6. Maintain baseline schedules through change control, reflecting scope modifications.
  7. Maintain the Work Breakdown Structure per client processes.
  8. Conduct Schedule Performance Index & Schedule Variance analysis, root cause analysis, and provide recommendations and recovery plans.
  9. Involvement in pre-contract management and assessment work.
  10. Ensure the integrity of baseline and progressed schedules.

Additional responsibilities include willingness to travel to site or client offices in Bridgwater and/or Bristol two days a week.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in the Nuclear sector preferred; candidates with public sector project experience in regulated environments (water, rail, aviation, etc.) are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience working with NEC contracts, especially options A, C & E.
  • Understanding of Earned Value Management.
  • Knowledge of Critical Path Analysis.
  • Proficiency with P6 scheduling software.
  • Significant experience in schedule planning, forecasting, and reporting.
