Project Planner - Birmingham (Hybrid) - £46,000 to £54,000

About the role:

Are you ready to lead planning excellence in a role that drives real impact? We’re looking for a skilled Project Planner to join our National Gas programme and planning team to ensure efficient, cost-effective resource planning and clear visibility of utilisation across all levels. This is a key role in supporting the successful delivery of our capital plan and operational goals.

You’ll bring deep planning expertise to the table - owning end-to-end processes including critical path analysis, earned value management and risk mitigation. Your insights will directly support strategic decision-making, helping us stay ahead of challenges and deliver better-than-expected outcomes. From scenario mapping to contractor programme compliance, you’ll be at the heart of delivery performance.

You’ll be confident using digital planning tools to manage timelines, resources and performance data - providing the Programme Lead with monthly analysis, identifying opportunities and recommending corrective actions. You’ll drive continuous improvement and represent National Gas in key stakeholder engagements - ensuring our planning processes are robust, consistent and future-ready.

As part of our hybrid working approach, this role offers a mix of office working in Birmingham and home working. You'll need to be able to travel into the Birmingham office approx. 3 days a week.

What we're looking for:

Essential -

  • Competent in cost loaded programme management
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Strong planning and organisation skills
  • Full UK car driving licence

Desirable -

  • Experience using planning tools or software (whether that’s Primavera P6, MS Project, or another recognised project planning system)
  • Project management experience
